1930 - Built Madden Dam for additional canal waters
1939 - Construction begins for a addition set of locks
1977 - Carter signs treaty to return the canal to Panama
2000 - The Canal control is handed over to Panama
2006 - Panamanians vote to expand the canal, US approves expansion
